Electronic Arcs driver program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RELEASE 1.0 -- 31 MAY 1987
This is the first "official" release version of the driver program for
the Electronic Arcs magazine, an electronic magazine for the Amiga, and
thus renders all predecessors (currently only a test version v0.5)
obsolete. It requires, in addition, a set of dearchived files comprising
an issue of the magazine, which you should also have.
CLI USAGE: 1> [run] EAmagazine [-nl]
Currently, the driver can only be invoked from the CLI. The current
directory must contain the magazine files for the issue you wish to "read"
(but the driver need not be in this directory).
For example, suppose you keep this driver program in the root of a
disk, and create numerous directories for each issue of the magazine, such
as 'June87', 'July87', etc., in which you place the actual dearchived
magazine files (you can use any directory organization you wish, so long
as you always run the driver while you are in a directory containing
magazine files). The following CLI sequence demonstrates how you would view
the June 1987 issue of the magazine:
1> cd June87 ;this dir. contains the dearc'd magazine files
1> run :EAmagazine ;run the driver which happens to be in the root
An optional argument "-nl" can be included on the command line.
Normally, a backdrop logo is shown on the screen when the program is
active. However, it was noticed on one machine (the editor's!) that the
colours of the logo were not as they should have been, but instead very
different and somewhat annoying. There also appeared a strange pattern at
the bottom of the screen. Therefore, the ability to disable the logo from
being displayed has been provided. It has not yet been determined whether
this peculiarity is unique to his machine, or whether others exhibit
similar behaviour. If your machine shows the two-tone logo in bright
colours rather than in shades of blue, we'd like to hear from you.
After you run the program, a title picture will be displayed. Tap a
key when you wish to continue. Then, after some disk gronking, you will
see the main screen. Then go straight to the menus! Directions are
provided under the first menu, item "How to use this Archive".
Contact information for Electonic Arcs can be found under the "About"
menu item.
